Uploading and downloading schematisations
Uploading a schematisation
A schematisation revision can be uploaded with the Rana panel:
Activate the ‘Rana panel’ by clicking on the pictogram (
) in the toolbar.Browse in your Rana projects to the schematisation that you have updated on your laptop
There are two ways of uploading a new revision:
Right mouse click on the schematisation, and click ‘save revision to Rana’
Double click the schematisation and click the button ‘save revision to Rana’
You get an overview of the schematisation revisions history. click ‘Next’
Click on ‘Check Schematisation’. If error messages appear in red, your revision will not be valid so it is best to fix them before uploading your schematisation. If this is not the case then click on ‘Next’.
Select the files you want to add to your upload by clicking on ‘Upload’. If you leave it on ‘Ignore’ the edit will not be uploaded.
Describe the changes you made in a commit message.
By default ‘Make a Rana model’ and ‘Inherit simulation templates from previous revision’ are checked. Uncheck them if needed.
Click on ‘Start Upload’.
Your revision will now be available for everyone in your organisation.

Two things will happen:
The files will be downloaded to simulation working directory in your settings.
The schematisation will be opened in the schematisation editor.
Importing schematisations from the model databank
In case you have already a schematisation available in the model databank you can import that schematisation using the ‘import schematisation’ button in the Rana panel. When you import a schematisation it makes an existing schematisation available in your project. You can use it to run simulations, add new revisions to it. When you’re done working with the schematisation you can click ‘remove from project’. This will not delete your schematisation. It is still available in the model databank including the new revisions added in the project.
Overwriting your latest revision with an older one
In some cases you like to take an older revision and promote that to be the newest revision. The steps for this are as follows:
Double‑click a schematisation in Rana.
Click View all revisions.
Right‑click the name of the revision you want to open.
Click Open in QGIS.
It will download that revision and load it into Work in Progress.
Make any necessary adjustments to the schematisation.
In the detail screen of the schematisation, there is a button Save revision to Rana.
When you click that, the currently open Work in Progress is uploaded to Rana.
It is advisable to disable Generate model, but especially Inherit simulation templates, during that step.
